Currently, the main critique stems from the absence of food service, as the kitchen is undergoing refurbishment. Some visitors feel disappointed, especially those who are eager to enjoy a hearty meal along with their drinks. Others mention that on busy nights, the limited indoor space can feel quite cramped, which may dampen the experience during peak times.
Additionally, while the bar staff are praised for their friendliness, a few reviews noted slight delays during busy hours, emphasizing that the demand sometimes outstrips the service capacity. Regulars are hoping for a quick reopening of the kitchen to enhance the overall offering at The Salt Barge.
Popped into this interesting old pub on my travels. Only had a half which did the job. It’s directly opposite the old Lyon’s salt works. Fairly big inside and well done out. It’s pretty cosy. There’s a games room with a good pool table and darts board. The building probably has a great history but I couldn’t get to the bottom of it on my brief visit. The young lady behind the bar was very friendly and chatty. Dog friendly. The kitchen isn’t up and running as of yet but hopefully will soon. The carpark is big and flat enough for a van stop over but you’ll have to ring ahead as they won’t take anything bigger than a transporter or transit size. I any call again if they let me stay one… 🚐 🍻
What a fabulous afternoon. The Marston Festival went on from Friday through till Monday. The entertainment was great and we especially enjoyed our friends Barney and Jo's jazz set. The food was lovely and the staff so friendly. Thank you ☺️🎶☺️
